Good design triumphs – Zapari gets Molonglo da approved for 7 stories & 140 apartments
Zapari today is pleased to announce another major DA approval for its Coombs project, located within the fast-growing Molonglo Valley, 11km of the Canberra City.

Prior to a full appeal hearing before the ACT Administrative Tribunal, Zapari reached a successful mediation with the ACT Government and the Weston Creek Community Council after its original plans were rejected by the ACT Government.

The successful win by Zapari within the judicial pathway is a strong and resounding industry confirmation that if the developer is willing to do the right thing and create a good high-quality urban outcome, higher densities are able to be achieved.

The approved high-quality development was designed by COX Architects and consists of 140 residential apartment’s and will be the tallest building in the Molonglo Valley at 7 stories. The project boasts significant design attributes including solar access benchmarks that exceed code requirements and cross ventilation for most units.

Nick Skepev, the Founder and Managing Director of Zapari said –

“This mediated outcome is a testament to good quality design triumphing and sets a new benchmark for quality design along John Gorton Drive. This is the type of development you would expect to see in some of Canberra’s more affluent suburbs like Braddon or Kingston”.

“The complex and ambitious DA approval is a testament to the strong internal capability of Zapari to work with all stakeholders and execute favourable outcomes”

The approved scheme, with its unique Biophilic free-flowing design, is sympathetic to the natural surrounds and includes significant resident and public amenity including private resident spas, rooftop terraces, a rooftop cinema, resident clubs, Typanyaki BBQ areas, kids playgrounds, Zen gardens and an urban park.

The development will also feature a central atrium with a waterfall and green wall which will be a focal point of the development.

The project will be taken to market in the first half of 2020 and demand is expected to be strong for the well-considered and “design lead” apartments.
